The new self-confident volume establishes itself beside two existing hotels as a third, large hotel on the square. The intended free-standing effect is enhanced by the building’s geometry, forming appropriate spatial conclusions. The compact volume allows its free-standing placement in the space without oppressing the hillside and the smaller buildings in the vicinity. The overall appearance with slanted surfaces recalls historical, large-scale hotel complexes with powerful roof formations and massive, plastered façades. The building form evokes the notion of erratic boulders or Alpine crystals. Inside the building, a central hall is situated on the ground floor, with various adjoining hotel areas (reception, lobby, bar, fireplace room, restaurant). A spa area is situated on the gallery floor above it, followed by six storeys with hotel rooms of different sizes. The apartments are accommodated on the building’s top four levels. They are separated from the hotel and accessed from a common outer courtyard. Despite their separate entrances, the apartments have the option of using the hotel services via direct connections to it.
