A park facility enhances the quality of the existing green space and forms the transition from the large-scale development of the Eichhof buildings, including a senior citizens’ residence, to the small-scale villa neighbourhood along Eichhofweg. The garden provides access to the residential estate of the student accommodation and also forms its recreation area. The apartments are situated around green courtyards, embedded in a park surrounding by a perimeter wall. The generous dimensions of the courtyards have different depths. The two-storey courtyard is situated above the existing underground car park of the Eichhof residence for the elderly, while two courtyards have a height of four stories, thereby adapting to the terrain, and one courtyard has five floors. The volumetric appearance is framed by the idea of a garden patio. The only perceived volumes are staircases forming entrances as pergolas in the park. The park provides access to the estate and acts as a peaceful recreation space for the students. The courtyards serve the shared-apartment residents as common outdoor spaces. The materialisation, both facing the estate and the park, is dominated by a mineral façade made of natural stone, its expression resembling a large garden retaining wall. On the garden patio, the defining feature is an atmosphere of metal arbours that reaches into the green courtyards. All shared-apartment areas are orientated towards these green spaces and have generous loggias in the living areas.
