A heterogeneous development, consisting of low-rise single-family homes, multi-storey apartment buildings and a school, defines the atmosphere of the location. The new church centre is planned in the midst of this residential neighbourhood. The planned building places itself among the heterogeneous development and thereby defines its role as a public, sacred building in the neighbourhood. The building heights are progressive, from a single-storey level in the west, adjacent to the neighbouring single-family homes, to a ten-metre high conclusion that contains the church space, its large head-end wall facing eastwards. The new church centre unites different areas in a single complex: a sacred space with a foyer and group rooms, administrative areas and an apartment, as well as two youth rooms. In front of them, specifically designed exterior spaces for each unit are provided in the form of inner courtyards. Thus, despite the heterogeneous nature of the development in the neighbourhood and the various exterior residential spaces of the nearby houses, it was possible to create an outdoor spatial situation that is suitable for each of the centre’s uses: a courtyard for youth activities, an exterior space for the church community and a garden for the apartment.
