The facility is grasped as a compact building complex, its calm, powerful appearance respectfully complementing the historical grounds of the monastery and cemetery, while symbolising the new municipal centre of Münsterlingen. The building's architectural expression is characterised by a black-stained concrete façade that is clad in raw boards of different widths, thereby recalling the local sun-burnt wooden façades. The dark colour combines with the light buildings of the historical facility to enhance the composition’s importance. The building follows the line of the topography with its staggered floor areas. Spaces of varying heights are created beneath the sloping roof and used accordingly. The result is an exciting spatial sequence and maximum efficiency in using the building’s developed dimensions.
