The property is situated in the midst of a dense, heterogeneously developed villa neighbourhood on a north-sloping hillside with a view of Lake Zurich. The building’s stepped form is inserted into the slope. The drive and entrance are situated in front of the building as a closed forecourt that sets the plot apart from the heterogeneous surroundings. The tall entrance hall addresses the theme of the different levels inside the house and allows natural light to shine into the 1st floor. The living space on the 2nd floor is connected to the sunlit garden level with its northward view. The through-dyed, dark concrete façade combines with the green surroundings. The resulting expression is a homogeneous, compact, reserved volume. An interplay between light and heavy elements is achieved through the contrast between the concrete façade with deep soffits and the large, flush, frameless windows. The multifaceted spatial relationships connect the different levels of the house, as well as auxiliary areas on the house’s living floor. The exciting placement of the apertures in the interior, as well as the reflections in the frameless glazing, achieve spatial images that are illuminated several times.
